Infants

8 Weeks – 12 Months

Infants need to feel safe and cared for as they begin to use newly acquired skills to discover the world around them. Our infant program uses the engagement of the five senses to begin building a child’s natural sense of discovery. We believe music is a great tool to boost children’s cognitive skills and language development.

Infants need cuddle time for story telling, building their responses with peers and teachers and helping them feel confident to move and engage with various spaces and activities. This is a sweet foundational stage where teachers will create a safe and explorative learning environment especially geared to growing the infants’ mind, body and heart.

Toddlers

12 Months – 24 Months

Toddlers are little scientists on the go. They are eager to interact with their environment as they discover how things work and decide on the purpose of various things. Creating a learning environment that involves choice and open-ended activities is key to keeping this age group engaged during the day. We believe that having activities that give children choice builds their independence, confidence and self-esteem by providing opportunity to recognize their uniqueness and opportunity for positive praise. Teachers are challenged to consider all parts of toddlers’ day to make them feel comfortable enough to try new things and begin positively interacting with his/her peers.

Music and repetitive predictable story telling begins building their emergent literacy skills as they become more independent with their communication and language abilities. They will begin understanding how language helps identify specific objects, activities, people and places. They will also engage in activities that set the stage for mathematical number sense by interacting with puzzles, building blocks and calendar time daily.

Preschool

Preschoolers are all too familiar for their desire to, “Do it myself.” This independence can be fostered through creating an environment that is designed for them to understand how every space has a purpose. The classroom should have opportunity for both independent and group centers with goals and objectives that are social and academic. We also know that preschoolers will feel more confident as they can begin predicting the day’s schedule and engaging in jobs as the teacher’s little helper.

Circle time becomes a key component of the day as children interact with word play, letter and sound recognition, phonemic awareness activities, familiar nursery rhymes and a more interactive calendar time.

Mathematical concepts become more concrete as they begin activities that build one-to-one correspondence, recognizing numbers and what they represent in various scenarios and manipulate numbers to problem solve.
